Charter High school

Middletown-Odessa-Townsend (MOT) Charter High School is a new facility that expands the school's successful K-8 program to include grades 9-12. The 80,000 sq ft building is comprised of two major pieces, corresponding to the school's twin Academies of the Arts and Science/Technology. The plan lacks traditional corridors, and main circulation areas are utilized as breakout spaces, work group pods, and informal lounge/discussion nooks. Instead of the typical cafeteria and auditorium, each half is organized around a large, open volume that serves these functions, while also providing important instructional areas and communal gathering spaces throughout the school day. Planned future expansions include a large gymnasium and theatre.
