The Warehouse

YOUTh CENTER

The Teen Warehouse Project was an idea to take 6,500 sf of an existing school building and turn it into a space “For Teens, By Teens”. We worked with a group of local teens and several local non-for profit organizations to develop a space that urban youths could use as safe place to go after school and where they could get access to a variety of programs and activities. The layout was developed around large multi-functional group spaces (“the kitchen table” and “the mindfulness zone”) with smaller activity rooms around the perimeter. The specialized spaces, based on the teens programming input, included an Art Room, a Cooking Demonstration Kitchen, a Dance Studio and a small Black Box/ Movie Theater. We also included a variety of sized group spaces and study areas as well as several larger classroom spaces.
